The number of Netflix paid subscribers had grown to approximately 222 million at the end of fiscal 2021. However, in the first quarter of 2022, the company saw a slight decline in its number of subscribers compared to the last quarter.
The number of Netflix subscribers in the first quarter of 2022 was 221.64 million compared to 221.84 million in the last quarter of 2021. The company has forecast a further decline of 2 million in the number of paid memberships for the second quarter of 2022, which will bring down the figures to 219.64 million. The main reason that number of paid memberships declined in the first quarter of 2022 was the suspension of Netflix services in Russia, due to which the company lost around 0.7 million members. Apart from it, the company added 0.5 million subscribers and the net impact on membership was -0.2 million in the first quarter of 2022.
The net revenues of the company grew in the first quarter of 2022 compared to the last quarter of 2021. In the fourth quarter of 2021, the net revenues of the company were $7.709 billion, which increased to $7.868 billion in 2022 first quarter.
