Sales Data of Toyota Vehicles
The following table shows how many vehicles Toyota has sold each year from 2008-2017. The data is in thousands.

In 2017, Toyota sold nearly 8.9 million (8,970,860) vehicles globally which was around 290k higher than the previous year. In 2016, Toyota sold 8.67 million vehicles globally. Japan and North America account for the highest sales of the brand; 25% and 32% respectively. Europe accounted for 10% of the entire vehicle sales in 2017 and apart from that the Asian markets excluding Japan accounted for 18% of the sales. The other regions accounted for 15% of the entire sales.
Unit sales of Toyota vehicles in Japan rose by 215 thousand units or by 10.4%. Their sales reached 2274 thousand units in Japan in 2017 and it had resulted primarily from the introduction of the new products as well as efforts made by the dealers. It gained a total market share of 45% including all Toyota brands (Toyota, Lexus, Daihatsu and Hino) and mini vehicles. However, the market share of Toyota and Lexus brands excluding mini vehicles was at 47.8%. Overseas sales of Toyota increased by 1.1% in 2017 over the previous year or 75 thousand units to 6697000 units. This happened despite the declining sales in Middle East because of sales expansion in Asia and Europe.
